Day 8. We’ve reached the other side of the steep hill we climbed! The pain is certainly still severe, but managed much better. More smiling and more fun, family times. We are overcome with gratitude for the successful surgical intervention of Dr David Feldman and his team at @PaleyInstitute. From Day 1, when we first met Dr Feldman, he insisted that Olivia should have a life without suffering, of a normal 10 year old. We are now on our way to make that happen thanks to him, my tenacity, defying a Team of French doctors, and your help to get Olivia here! Our goal is for Olivia to be walking in 6 months and reunited with her friends at school in September. Now, 8 days after surgery, Olivia is still feeling the pain of 2 titanium rods and 15 screws in her spine, but her new corset (created in 12hrs thanks to Matt Westlake at Paley’s Prosthetics team), makes sitting much more comfortable. We’ve been able to transfer her to sitting, started daily physiotherapy sessions, and we take walks with her in a wheelchair. She’s even able to wiggle all her toes and move her legs up and down like never before! Amazing progress, Oli! Your future is overflowing with potential!
We love you more than you can imagine.
