July/August 2017

After much debate on where to spend our summer holidays with Olivia’s new electric wheelchair, we finally decided on driving 14 hours to the French Alps, to a gorgeous village called Morzine. It was a fantastic decision! There were so many activities for the entire family to enjoy such as horse riding, tree top climbing adventures, mountain luge, water park, off-road mountain trekking, and swimming in Alpine picture-perfect lakes – all at our doorstep.  The French Alps is a gorgeous region of France. I am so thankful for the recommendation to spend our summer holiday there. Olivia had an au pair to keep her busy in the afternoon exploring the many options the village had to offer, Carolina spent the mornings at French language camp, horse riding in the afternoon, and Gabriella hopped into our backpack as we rode up the gondola to appreciate the gorgeous views at 2,460 meters. Thank you to Finlay and Wendy Hunter of Hunter Chalets for making us feel so welcome. They went above and beyond during our extended stay. We hope to be back soon!

Thankfully, this holiday offered us the ability for us to forget about the stresses of London living. Relieving the burden of having to be somewhere at a certain time and constantly meeting and following up with all the medical professionals involved in Olivia’s care has taken it’s toll on me. I appreciate the quiet times now more than ever.
